Our meeting format generally consists of a meet-and-greet period, questions from new attendees, a question-and-answer session, and a presentation, usually given by Patt Ricketts, SCGS member and TMG user since 1997.

Chinese American Interest Group Meets 20 Oct
SCGS is pleased to announce our newest interest group.
The Chinese American Interest Group is newly formed and will begin meeting in 2012. The formation of this group is an outgrowth of a group which has been meeting informally for the past year.
Our focus is on gathering information and resources to assist those on a quest to trace their Chinese American ancestors, with special attention to the impact on family histories of the Exclusion Act
(1882-1943) and restrictive quotas which did not change until the late 1960's.
We will meet from 10am to 12 noon on the third Saturday of the dates listed below. As the times may change, please confirm the date and time with the office. Also, we may have additional activities such as field trips. If you are attending for the first time, you may wish to notify the group of any special research issues you may have.

“Producing a Reunion Book – from Content to Printed copy”
Presented by Dick Humphrey
This workshop will provide a look at various options for printing at home, at copy centers and with online services. A demonstration will show steps to use Microsoft PowerPoint for custom pages with images, text, tables, genealogical charts and reports and will conclude with uploading online for printing. He encourages you to bring your laptop if you have PowerPoint already loaded on your computer so you can follow him step-by-step. If you don’t bring a laptop, don’t worry -- Dick will provide you with enough information to duplicate the process at home. Dick Humphrey has been a member of SCGS for over a year. Recently he retired from a career with the Harvard-Westlake School where he taught high-school physical sciences and was also the head of the Computer Services Department.
The library will not be open for research.
Ending times are approximate.
