SCGS at RootsTech Conference, February 2-4, 2012

We are very pleased to announce that the Southern California Genealogical Society has been approved as an exhibitor at the widely popular RootsTech conference that will be held in Salt Lake City, UT, in early February.

We will be stationed at booth 629, across the aisle from the computer access area.  In the area you will find other organizations such as the National Genealogical Society, Federation of Genealogical Studies, Association of Professional Genealogists, NEHGS, and the Utah Genealogical Society. It is an honor to be included among such organizations.

Thank you to the RootsTech planners who, in responding to calls from the community, adapted their vision of the exhibit hall to include genealogical societies as well book publishers and sellers.

Societies hold a pivotal role in transforming old school genealogy into the future's technology-driven solutions. The transition will not happen overnight but it is inevitable.

Societies help educate members about tools that can relieve some of the drudgery of collecting, evaluating, organizing and managing data.  Already, a handful of societies have actively embraced technology and deliver services using these tools (webinars, web-based chapter meetings, offering online databases of information collected by the organization) for their members and genealogists around the world.

Be sure to stop by the booth to say hi, to pick up information about our Jamboree Webinar Extension Series, and to register for Jamboree.

We look forward to seeing you!
