[CA-SCGS] SCGS Writer's Group--Sunday, July 9, 2017

The SCGS Writer's Group will meet on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the SCGS Library in Burbank.

Building on our experiences with haiku structure, we opted to try a related haiku poem format, the "Tanka.”  Carol Craft provided us with detailed notes about this poem form, which are cut-n-pasted at the end of this email.

For our next group, to take place on Sunday, July 9th (1-3pm), we selected to write about the following two topics:

    1.) Patriots in your Ancestry.

2.) Write a family history/memoir themed Tanka Poem.*

*The Tanka poem structure consists of five lines: first line, 5 syllables, second line, 7 syllables, third line, 5 syllables, fourth line, 7 syllables, and fifth and (last line), 7 syllables. Please see Carol’s detailed notes below, which includes a description and examples of Tanka for your reference.
