“Finding Family in Digital Newspapers”

               Presented by Judy Janes

Newspapers have been published in the U. S. for over 300 years. Millions of pages those historical newspapers are now available online in digital format, some free and others through commercial sites. Articles from these old newspapers can breathe life into your family history. Come learn how to access these newspapers, what types of articles to look for, and the tips and tricks needed to uncover exciting stories about your ancestor’s lives.
Judy Janes is Past President of the Ventura County Genealogical Society and now is their Ways and Means chairman. She also teaches genealogy classes at the Camarillo Library, and lectures in the greater Los Angeles area. Judy is a third-generation Californian with two decades of genealogical research experience. She has traced her family extensively through New York, New England, several Southern states, California, and France.
