If the answer to either question is yes, then you won’t want to miss the next quarterly SCGS Irish Workshop on Sunday, October  30, 2022, 1-4 p.m. This will an ONLINE ONLY meeting. We will go to 4PM or until we run out of things to discuss. 

The October Irish Workshop will not contain a formal lecture. I urge you all to attend the lecture of the British Isles Group on October 23, the topic of which is Grosse Ile, Quebec. Thousands of Irish passed through here (see article on British Isles and Irish Interest Group Lecture ONLINE). The October 30th meeting will be simply a question and answer session. Have your questions ready as this meeting will be from 1-4PM online, or until you run out of questions.

If the answer to either question is yes, then you won’t want to miss the next quarterly SCGS Irish Workshop on Sunday, July  31, 2022, 1-4 p.m. This will an ONLINE ONLY meeting. We will go to 4PM or until we run out of things to discuss. 

Topic: The July Irish Workshop will be a hybrid workshop - both online and in person for those who wish to attend a live workshop again. It will be on July 31^st from NOON till 3pm online, and noon till 4pm for those attending in person.

This workshop will focus on land records. The first that we will work on are the Northern Ireland records that are available FREE online. For those attending in person, I will bring copies of the records that I have, that you must get directly from the Valuation Office in Dublin, along with the records that I printed out from the Northern Ireland site. We will also look at other options such as: Tithes, Valuation Office Books 1823-1856, and Griffith’s Valuation. If we have time, we will look at various other sites dealing with land issues i.e., deeds, etc. As always, I hope to see many of you there.

If the answer to either question is yes, then you won’t want to miss the next quarterly SCGS Irish Workshop on Sunday, May 29, 2022, 1-4 p.m. This will an ONLINE ONLY meeting. We will go to 4PM or until we run out of things to discuss. 

Topic: At this Irish workshop we will have a guest genealogist from Northern Ireland, Viola Wiggins, to help out those with Northern Ireland ancestors.  She volunteers at the Fermanagh Genealogy Centre in Enniskillen helping visitors with their ancestral searches.  At this time, we are planning a hybrid meeting – those who wish to can come into the library and those who prefer to remain online (or are out of the area) can attend virtually, as will Viola.  At this time, I am going to set the timeframe for this meeting to NOON till 4pm.  Please take note of the time as it is different than past times.  As always, I am looking forward to seeing many of you there!
