GENEii Family History Writing Contest Deadline December 31

It's coming soon -- the deadline for the GENEii Family History Writers Contest is looming. Writers have until December 31, 2012, to submit their entries for this year's contest.

The rules and regulations for this year's contest can be found on the SCGS website.  Be sure to review the FAQs to get all the details.

Submissions from former years can be found on the SCGS website as well. Just click on the "GENEii Writing Contest" link on the left-hand side of the screen to read the wonderful submissions from the past 10 years.

Winning entries are also published in the society's quarterly publication, The Searcher.

Winners will be selected from two categories:

CATEGORY 1
Family history or local history articles of 1,000-2,000 words in length, published or unpublished. If previously published, entries must be accompanied by the written permission of the publisher
allowing the article to be reprinted by SCGS.

Awards:
1st Place, $200
2nd Place, $100
3rd Place, $50
Honorable Mentions, certificate
Finalists, certificate

CATEGORY 2
Family history or local history articles of 1,000 words or less, published or unpublished. If previously published, entries must be accompanied by the written permission of the publisher allowing the  article to be reprinted by SCGS.

Awards:
1st Place, $100
2nd Place, $50
3rd Place, $25
Honorable Mentions, certificate
Finalists, certificate
