[CA-SCGS] SCGS Lunch and Learn - Saturday, September 10, 2016

Feeling like your ancestors are hiding in census records? Then the upcoming Southern California Genealogical Society Lunch and Learn program on September 10, 2016, is for you!

The Program will include two lectures:

1:00 pm to 2:00 pm  "Special Censuses: Windows into the Lives of Our Ancestors" by Connie Moretti.

Special enumerations in the years 1850-1890 offer useful information about ancestral communities, occupations etc. that contribute to our understanding of living conditions in the past. Included are the locations of these censuses today.

2:15 pm to 3:15 pm  "Pre-1850 Census: Putting Names on the Tick Marks" by  Lisa Schumacher. Census records from 1790-1840 appear to contain limited information but learning how to analyze them and chart the "tick-marks" will help construct families and prove relationships for that time period.

Doors open at 12:00 noon. Bring a brown bag lunch and sit, chat, and share your genealogy stories with fellow family historians while you eat.

For more information please contact Charlotte Bocage.
