[CA-SCGS] German Interest Group Meeting--Saturday, September 16, 2017

Researching your family tree and finding new, exciting, and sometimes surprising family connections?

Join the SCGS German Interest Group at their next meeting to be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the SCGS Family Research Library. Don't miss out!
Join Allene (Collins) Aubertin for her presentation on: "Ancestry.com's Indexing Errors" and Charles Signor Bier's talk on New York Palatines.

The ancestor's of Allene (Collins) Aubertin were a sneaky bunch of folk. Their ghosts lead her in and around a maze of never ending spider webs. Then in one mysterious moment, a clue popped up and she was staring at one of her ancestral family's. Talk about ghostly goose bumps. Allene learned that her Great Grandfather, Moses Rothstein, served in the Army under several Czar's and her 3rd Great Grandfather Josiah Collins served in the Revolutionary War along with another great ancestor, Daniel Boone. It was in 1976 that Allene's interest in her ancestral lines started to blossom. It didn't take long before her family names grew from those she knew - Collins & Meyer to Abshier, Boone, Horth, Huffman, Kehl, Rothstein, Shoptaugh, Szymon and many, many others.

The goal of the SCGS German Interest Group is to provide a wide range of resources both inside and outside the SCGS Library to help trace German families. Throughout 2017, our German Group will renew its "Routing Our Roots" as well as present short programs on German Exiles in Los Angeles County, History of German Towns, Human Interest Stories on folks of German Heritage, learning German Words and Old German Script, plus any last minute thoughts.
