SCGS Legacy Family Tree

User Group

Monday, February 13, 2017

6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

‘Back To Basics with Legacy’

The Legacy Family Tree User Group is a forum to learn this software program, answer
questions, improve your efficiency and assist others with your expertise- whether you use the
free download, Legacy 7, Legacy 8 or Legacy 9 (scheduled for release late 2016).

Legacy Family Tree is one of the most popular software programs to store your family tree. You
can add pictures and documents to your ancestors; create a variety of reports; properly (and
painlessly) cite sources; obtain research assistance and much more.

All are welcome to participate! You may want to bring your laptop or tablet to practice your skills as we explore Legacy’s capabilities.

For further information contact the Legacy User Group Leader Barb Randall at barbmran@aol.com.

[CA-SCGS] National Volunteer Week - April 10 - 16, 2016

As National Volunteer Week winds down, Southern California Genealogical Society would like to share one final You Made My Day card with you. There are so many volunteers who make our society a reality and we are grateful to them all year round. We only wish we had room here to thank each and every one individually.

Pam Folden and Edward McKelvey were so helpful and friendly. They helped point me in the right direction and got me started in the midst of a very busy day at the library. Thank you!

[CA-SCGS] National Volunteer Week - April 10 - 16, 2016

One week just doesn't seem long enough for SCGS to properly express our gratitude to the legion of volunteers that make our mission become a reality. But we will try. Below we have shared another one of our recent You Made My Day cards.

I would like to thank Lynne Parmenter for providing training, advice, and support to ease my transiton into the "in-house printer" role. She has been patient even when I didn't always "get it" the first time. She has even gone above and beyond the call of duty by making special trips to the library to show me the way. Thanks!

[CA-SCGS] National Volunteer Week - April 10 - 16, 2016

Southern California Genealogy Society is grateful to all of its volunteers all of the time, but every so often someone takes that extra step to provide a particularly positive experience or to help someone out. We are always delighted when our members and patrons recognize those folks via our You Made My Day cards. We think that National Volunteer Week is a great time to share a few recent ones.

I would like to thank Dorothy des Lauriers for helping me untangle a mis-step (mine) with ordering a film from the Family History Library. She handled the entire situation with grace and helped me get the right film - with my family in the records. Thank you!

We hear this type of story all the time and invite you to visit the SCGS library where you can meet some of these great volunteers every day.
