Curious about exactly what you can find in the collection at the SCGS Library? Wondering what the many SCGS Special Interest Groups might have to offer? Looking for a volunteer opportunity? Then the upcoming SCGS Open House is the place for you!

Because of current Covid conditions, all visitors must wear a mask and show proof of vaccination/negative Covid test results to enter the Library.

Representatives from the many Special Interest Groups and Software User Groups will be at the SCGS Open House to talk with you, as will the Members of the Board of Directors. Librarians will be on duty to provide guided tours of the library. Light refreshments will be served and there will be door prizes. 

Whether you have only recently joined SCGS, are a long-time member, or are even just thinking about joining, this is your opportunity to learn more about Southern California Genealogical Society.

At SCGS, we are concerned about you, our patrons and volunteers! Due to the COVID Omicron surge, the Southern California Genealogical Library will be closed temporarily beginning January 14, 2022 until February 28th at which time we will reevaluate the situation.   Our Online Interest Groups, Lunch and Learn, Webinars will continue - so please join us. Use your Online Membership Benefits. Behind the Member Wall, you can continue to use: MyHeritage Library Edition Newspaper Archives  Fold3 Library Edition HistoryGeo African American Heritage (AAH)  Black Freedom Struggle Continue to check our web site and social media for updates and news in order to pursue your genealogical goals from home. Stay in touch with each other to maintain your social and psychological health - When attending an online meeting, jot down someone's email or exchange phone numbers so you can stay communicate outside the meeting and socialize so no one feels alone and isolated.

[CA-SCGS] The Holiday Hours for the SCGS Library

The Southern California Genealogy Society (SCGS) and Library will be closed from Sunday, December 19, 2021 to Saturday, January 1, 2022.

The Library will re-open on Sunday, January 2, 2022, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Join us for the SCGS Annual Meeting from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, ONLINE. The minutes from the 2020 meeting will be reviewed for your approval.  The newly elected Board Members will be announced. Members of the Board will give you an update on what has happened during the year as well as plans for next year. 

The plans for two virtual conferences in 2022 (Genetic Genealogy August 19-20 and Jamboree August 26-27) will be revealed.  For those who attend online, there will a random drawing for a free registration for each conference after the meeting.  The two winners will be informed by email.
